Palestinian negotiators have presented officials in Egypt with a "unified Palestinian vision" on a ceasefire for the ongoing conflict in Gaza in preparation for its introduction to the Israelis, local reports said on Sunday.
The two parties met to discuss putting a stop to the violence and means to lift the Israeli siege on Gaza based on the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire initiative, backed by the Arab League and international community, according to Egyptian state news agency, MENA.
The Palestinian delegation was headed by Fatah party representative, Azzam Al-Ahmed, and included representatives from several Palestinian factions, including Hamas, according to member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Maher Taher.
He added that the fundamental points of the proposal call for a ceasefire to the current conflict, the lifting of the siege along with all of its implications like the opening of border crossings, allowing fishing up to 12 nautical miles and the annulment of the so-called 'buffer zone', which has been placed by Israel inside Gaza's borders.
The proposal also calls for the release of Palestinian prisoners, including those recaptured after previously being released in the Jilad Shalit swap deal, lawmakers and the fourth group of "pre-Oslo" prisoners.
Other points raised point to the Palestinian national unity government as the body responsible for Gaza rebuilding efforts, and the organisation of a donors talks in order to raise funds for this task.
