Israel is the only country that opposed the formation of a Palestinian national unity government while the international community recognized and supported it, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said during a meeting with British Home Secretary Theresa May.
During the meeting, Hamdallah briefed the British official, currently on a visit to Ramallah along with a delegation, on the latest political developments and stressed the Palestinian people's adherence to a two-state solution that leads to an independent Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
For her part, May reiterated the commitment of the international community and Britain to do whatever is necessary to achieve peace in the region, expressing her pleasure at visiting the EU-backed military college in Jericho.
