Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas strongly slammed Israeli forces for killing innocent people in Gaza, and called for a permanent end to the Israeli aggressions in the coastal enclave.
"Palestinians are sticking to the Egyptian initiative for a cease- fire agreement with Israel," Abbas said at the start of a meeting of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) held at his office in Ramallah, Xinhua reported.
Over 2,000 Gazans, mostly women and children, have been killed and over 11,000 others were severely wounded in the Israeli forces' war against the Strip since July 8.
On Wednesday night, the Israeli officials and Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas agreed to extend ceasefire for five days ending on Monday midnight.
