
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Monday with Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) politburo chief Khaled Mishaal in the Qatari capital, Doha. The two agreed through the lengthy meeting to move forward, ending division and build a real national partnership, a statement by Hamas Movement said in Gaza. According to the statement the two discussed "the latest developments in Palestinian territories, mainly the national reconciliation agreement, and to efforts to enhance a positive atmosphere. "The two also discussed ways to restore national unity to confront the occupation and achieve aspirations of the Palestinian people through unity, freedom, dignity and liberation," the statement noted. The two sides also discussed ways to activate the framework leadership for the Palestinian Liberation Organization and coordinate efforts among Palestinian factions and movements amid risks violations and challenges in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and Israeli Judaization campaigns. The statement described the atmosphere of the meeting as "positive," noting that the two leaders expressed their views and commitment for building a new relationship based on national partnership. President Abbas arrived in Doha, and met earlier with Qatari Amir Prince Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Earlier, Hamas dismissed reports that the government in Gaza released two (Fatah) members from jail.
