Palestinian unity government PM to visit Gaza to boost reconstruction

Prime Minister of the Palestinian unity government Rami Hamdallah is to visit the Gaza Strip on Wednesday for the first time since October, a senior official announced here on Monday.
The visit is to boost reconstruction and reconciliation in the Strip, Ihab Bseiso, the unity government's spokesman said in an emailed press statement.
"Backing the efforts of achieving internal reconciliation has been always on the agenda of the unity government," said Bseiso, adding that "we seek justice to our Palestinian people without any discrimination."
According to Bseiso, Hamdallah's coming visit to Gaza follows his recent tour to several Gulf states, mainly Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Hamdallah is scheduled to meet with representatives of the various Palestinian factions, mainly the Islamic Hamas movement.
During his first visit to Gaza in October, Hamdallah and the Palestinian ministers in the West Bank held the first cabinet meeting since the unity government was formed in June last year.
Hamdallah once planned to visit in the coastal enclave again on Nov. 8. However, he called his visit off following a series of explosions targeting residents and vehicles of several leaders of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party.
