The Palestinian Legislative Council has sent urgent messages to the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Arab, Islamic and European parliaments calling for applying pressures on Israel to stop its aggression on Al Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds (East Jerusalem).
A press release issued by the General Secretariat of the council on Tuesday accused Israel of trying to impose a new status quo through destroying the gates of the mosque and allowing the settlers to storm it.
It appealed to all Palestinian factions to unite against the occupation authorities with supporting the residents o the holy city who confront the settlers.
Early reports said some 36 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli occupation forces at the mosque's compound.
During the third consecutive day of violent clashes at Al Aqsa, the Israeli forces stormed the compound and damaged the doors of the southern Mosque.
Israeli forces stormed the compound via al Maghariba Gate and assaulted Palestinian worshipers, fired stun grenades, tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets at them.
