The parliament under Ali Abdel Aal approved Tuesday a bill to cancel daylight saving time.
The summer time system didn't reduce electricity consumption and affects negatively the daily life of citizens by extending the daylight hours more than the night hours in addition to its impact on the aviation movement, head of the local administration committee Ahmed Al Sejeny said.
Egypt first adopted daylight saving time in 1988 as a way to reduce electricity consumption, but in April 2011 the cabinet endorsed a decree to cancel changing clocks in summer.
Standard time in Egypt is GMT + 2, and GMT + 3 during daylight saving time.
