Parliament speaker meets Inter-Parliamentary Union delegation

Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal held talks on Monday with an Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) delegation, currently visiting Egypt, according to a statement by the House of Representatives.

Talks centered on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in light of a cooperation protocol that was achieved during Abdel Aal’s recent visit to the IPU headquarters in Geneva, in which the IPU’s executive committee agreed on Egypt’s hosting of the regional headquarters of the IPU, the statement read.

Today’s talks also came days before the 143rd session of the IPU in Zambia’s Lusaka on March 19-23, the statement added, noting that a high-level Egyptian parliamentary delegation was expected to take part in the activities of the session, in light of Egypt’s restoration of its membership in the IPU.
