Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Secretary-General Saeb Erekat on Monday urged Palestinian factions to renounce their differences and spare no efforts to remove causes of division.
Interviewed by Al Ghad Al Araby television, Erekat said a Palestinian government that includes all factions should be formed and a session of the Palestinian National Council should be held to determine the relationship with Israel.
The cohesion of the Palestinian factions and renouncing their differences would contribute to overcoming occupation authorities' attempts to erase the State of Palestine from the map, he added.
Israel's strategy aims at maintaining the status quo, and to keep the Palestinian Authority without executive powers, in parallel with the dismantling of the Gaza Strip and attempts to Judaize Al Quds, Erekat said.
Leaders of the occupation state realize that the Palestinian state cannot be established without the Gaza Strip, he added.
PLO affirms that security and stability lies in restoring the Palestinian state to the 1967 borders, he stressed.
