
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Saturday congratulated Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker and the Egyptian people on Egypt's election to chair the general assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in 2016.
The prime minister hailed the election as new achievement for Egypt at the international arena, cabinet spokesman Hossam Qawish said.
Earlier, Egypt obtained a permanent seat of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for the year 2016/2017 and the the membership of the executive board of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for 2016 and 2017.
It also was elected president of the executive council of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) for 2016.
