Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese had talks with a delegation from the Tourism Ministry on reviving the Holy Family journey in Egypt.
During the meeting late Monday, the delegation congratulated the pope on the inauguration of the altars of Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church, also known as Abu Serga, in Cairo after renovation.
The delegation highlighted the importance of religious tourism, calling for coordination with the church to organize tours going through the path of the Holy Family.
Such tours would send a message of love and peace to the world and this would positively affect tourism in Egypt, the delegation said.
The delegation urged the church to arrange an annual religious tour as a key step for promoting religious tourism.
