His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired today a work meeting to discuss the oil strategy and its vital role in development. HRH directed to adopt new initiatives to preserve Bahrain's strategic oil and gas reserve and ensure exploration and excavation programmes are subject to more development to raise production rates. He underscored the need to carry on with procedures to maintain Bahrain's advanced record in oil facilities' security and safety. HRH the Prime Minister stressed that the government accords a great importance to strategic issues pertaining to oil excavation in order to achieve the goals of national development. He reviewed a number of vital projects to upgrade the oil and gas sector and boost its contribution to the national economy. The Finance Minister, in charge of the oil and gas affairs and Board Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority, presented a briefing on current and future projects in the oil and gas sector which aim to enhance productivity of the oil and gas fields. Then, HRH the Premier reviewed the status of government-run facilities and their capability to cater to citizens' needs. He instructed the services ministries to set up specialized teams to follow up on the facilities' construction and technical status and ascertain of their effectiveness by subjecting them to periodic maintenance.
