Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Sunday called for rationalizing the consumption of electricity and fuel to ease the burden on importation and Egypt's foreign currency reserves.
The Premier directives came in a meeting held with Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker and Transport Minister Galal Saeed to discuss a number of development projects being implemented to provide high-quality services for citizens in all sectors.
During the meeting, Shaker has submitted a complete report on rationalizing the consumption and improvement of the efficiency of energy and renewable energy.
The electricity sector is keen on upgrading the level of electricity service provided to all citizens nationwide to enhance the standard of living and well-being of all Egyptians, Shaker asserted.
The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) has taken all necessary measures to rationalize the electricity consumption through the distribution of about 8 millions LED lamps of a total of 13 million ones to a huge number of electricity distribution companies nationwide, the electricity minister underlined.
Meanwhile, the prime minister discussed with the transport minister the progress made in the development of railway and subway systems.
During the gathering, Saeed briefed Ismail on a program to provide new wagons for trains running in the second and third classes as well as the time required to go into service.
