An official of Interior Ministry's Prisons Sector denied claims of bias and discrimination against some prisoners based on their beliefs, whether political or criminal.
Prisons medical unit Director Mohamed Chakib stressed that all prisoners get medical care fairly.
Muslim Brotherhood leaders, atop of them are Mohammad Badie, Khairat el Shater and Saad el Katatni, are in good health and receive fair medical care, Chakib said in exclusive statements to MENA.
Besides providing medicines for MB prisoners, they are subjected to medical examinations like fellow inmates, he added.
The medical director, meanwhile, refuted posts circulating on social media pages pertaining to the deteriorated health of the terrorist MB inmates.
Similar allegations were made by foreign human rights organizations.
Chakib deemed such allegations by MBs as an attempt to "distort the image of Egyptian prisons", noting that the interior ministry and its media sector are cooperating with neutral bodies to reveal the truth.
