Popular Resistance fighters loyal to Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi on Saturday captured Taiz province HQ and the house of ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
A local Yemeni website said the forces made significant progress toward the presidential palace and the 22 armored brigade camp in the city.
Local sources expected that the Popular Resistance fighters are going to achieve a decisive victory in Taiz battle.
Resistance forces control over 90% of Taiz, a spokesman said.
Analysts regard Taiz, southwest of Sanaa, as the gateway to the capital which was overrun by the rebels in September.
