Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat assigned his technical office to prepare a comprehensive study for the reasons of the verdict issued by Cairo Criminal Court in the re-trial of former president Hosni Mubarak, his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, former interior minister Habib el-Adli and his six aides.
The move came as the Prosecution will challenge within days the Court’s decision to drop the case against Mubarak and others over the charge of complicity in killing protesters.
Adly and his top aides were all also found not guilty of killing protesters in the January 2011 uprising.
Mubarak and his two sons were also acquitted of all corruption charges.
Mubarak had been accused of selling natural gas to Israel at below-market prices in cooperation with business tycoon Hussein Salem.
