Qatar thanks Kuwaiti emir's role in 'bridging the gap' among GCC states

Qatar on Monday expressed gratitude and appreciation of the "huge role" assumed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in "bridging the gap and boosting integration" among Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
His Highness the Amir had made a number of visits to several GCC states - most recently on November 7 - including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain on a mission aimed at bridging the gap and breaking the ice on relations between these nations.
His visits were followed by an emergency meeting between GCC leaders late on Sunday during which they agreed that the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain would return to Qatar.
In a statement, Qatar's Foreign Ministry had commended the "noble gestures which were worthy of the appreciation and admiration of the State (of Qatar)." The initiative of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to hold the Riyadh meeting was also praised, amid his "commitment to reach the success necessary to respond to the hopes and aspirations of the people of the GCC bloc and the Arabian Gulf." The statement went on to underline Qatar's own "total commitment" to GCC integration and accomplishments made "in the benefit of all of its member states."
