The State of Qatar on Saturday welcomed the initiative of the Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for improving the Qatari-Egyptian relations.
Qatar responds positively to the initiative and appreciates the sincere efforts being made by Saudi King Abdullah, known for his wisdom and keenness on enhancing the Arab solidarity, according to an official statement carried by QNA news agency this evening.
Qatar stands by sisterly Egypt and considers Egypt's security as part of its own security, the statement said, noting that Egypt's strength benefits the entire Arab and Muslim nation.
In response to King Abdullah's initiative, Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent his personal envoy to Egypt to meet Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi.
Qatar thanks President Al-Sisi for the warm reception of the Amir's representative Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the statement added.
