Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani on Wednesday held talks with a high-ranking Saudi delegation including Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz, the official Qatari News Agency said.
The discussions dealt with means of bolstering the brotherly ties between Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the "joint GCC march," the QNA said.
The delegation relayed greetings of the top Saudi leaders to the Qatari Amir, who honored his eminent guests with a luncheon.
Prince Saud Al-Faisal, a veteran foreign minister of the Kingdom, and his senior companions arrived in Doah earlier today, amid reported diplomatic action to resolve differences between some GCC member states and Qatar.
The official news agency said the delegation, including Chief of the General Intelligence Prince Khaled Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz and Interior Minister Prince Mohammad Bin Naif Bin Abdulaziz, arrived in Doha at noon time today. They were received at Hamad Internatiinal Airport by Head of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
Earlier in Manama, Bahrain, GCC Secretary General Abdullateef Al-Zayani said the GCC foreign ministers are currently debating the final minutes, submitted by the joint technical committee, for implementation of the "Riyadh accord" on settling differences with Qatar.
"The process regarding Qatar's file and implementation of the Riyadh agreement is proceeding," said Al-Zayani.
The GCC foreign ministers will hold their regular meeting in Jeddah next Saturday to discuss issues of joint interest, implementing the GCC Supreme Council's resolutions, current regional conditions and the GCC initiative for Yemen, he said.
The "Riyadh accord" reportedly addresses some sensitive issues of joint concern for the six members states of the regional bloc, founded in the early 80s.
The GCC comprises Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain and Oman.
