
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud participated today in a celebration held to mark the 60th anniversary of Bandung Conference which founded the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the 10th anniversary of the New African-Asian Strategic Partnership(NAASP), signed by member states in 2005 in Bandung.
The celebration was held as part of activities of the Afro-Asian Summit 2015 with the participation of a number of leaders, heads of states and heads of delegations participating in the Summit. The leaders marched in the Asia-Africa street which was given that name since 1955, the date in which that historic meeting was held and launched the foundation of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo gave a speech in which he memorized the founding leaders of this cooperation between the Asian and African continents. Heads of the participating delegations meanwhile signed documents of the declaration of the Afro-Asian Summit which underlined the importance of the renewal of the Asian-African partnership in all political and economic fields and the support of the Palestinian cause.
