
HE the Minister of Public Health Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani said that the Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections reinforce the democratic process in Qatar.
In a statement to the Qatar News Agency(QNA), Al Qahtani said, under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar always seeks to lay the solid foundations of sustainable development, underling the importance of citizens' participation in this process as citizens are the goal of this development and its basic engine.
The municipal council plays an important role within its powers, functions and forms a highly effective tool to express opinion of the citizen more clearly through their elected representatives, HE the Minister of Public Health pointed out, adding that the council had studied many vital issues and presented important recommendations, many of them were translated into projects that serve citizens.
Al Qahtani stressed that the government has been keen on taking advantage of the Municipal Council's important recommendations and working to implement them in order to serve the public interest.
He expressed his thanks to CMC members for all their effort in the service of the citizen, wishing success to each Member winning confidence of citizens in this election so as to contribute to a positive and important role in supporting the development process in the country.
