The Grand Mufti of Al Quds Sheikh Mohamed Hussein has warned of regional consequences of repeated attacks on the Holy Al Aqsa Mosque.
Earlier on Tuesday, an Israeli court allowed Yehuda Glick, an extremist Jew, to visit the so-called Temple Mount once a month, a decision that Hussein found very hazardous.
The occupation authorities should hold responsibility for the consequences of such decision, Hussein said.
He stressed that the Al Aqsa Mosque is a Muslim and Arab holy site, despite Israeli attempts to falsify facts and have control over it.
Sheikh Hussein also condemned attacks by Israeli troops on Palestinian women staying at the mosque. They are being severely beaten and some of them have been arrested, he noted.
He warned of an imminent religious war given the continued Israeli attacks on the Al Aqsa Mosque.
Jewish settlers regularly storm the mosque, when Muslim worshippers are denied access, the grand mufti said.
Israeli troops are surrounding the mosque and only allowing settlers in, he noted.
He touched upon the Israeli project to Judaize al Quds and the Holy Al Aqsa Mosque, stressing that this won't happen because the mosque is wholly for Muslims and Muslims alone.
Al Quds will remain a Muslim city of an Arab identity, Sheikh Hussein assured.
He urged anybody who can travel to Al Aqsa Mosque and stay there to please do, noting this will help protect it against Israeli schemes.
The grand mufti of Al Quds also called on the Arab and Muslim nations to exert utmost efforts to protect and support the Holy Al Aqsa Mosque and Al Quds.
They should act to preserve the sanctity of the Holy City and Mosque against Israeli violations and Judaization attempts, Sheikh Hussein said.
