Reform of Security Council, Algeria reaffirms commitment to African position

Algeria reaffirmed its commitment towards the joint African position on the reform of the Security Council, called consensus of Ezulwini, and called for the unity and cohesion of the Committee of Ten (C10), said Foreign Affairs Ministry Tuesday a communiqué.
In the meeting of the C10 of the African Union (AU) on the reform of the Security Council, Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Ministry Abdelhamid Senouci Bereksi reaffirmed “Algeria’s commitment towards the joint African position, called consensus of Ezulwini, and called for the unity and cohesion of C10,” said the source.
Bereksi, who is leading an Algerian delegation to this meeting, also underlined the “importance granted to a comprehensive, inclusive and consensual approach of the reform process.”
AU’s C10 on the reform of Security Council met on 17 November 2014 in Nairobi under the co-chairmanship of ministries of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone, coordinator of C10 and of Kenya, in the presence of the commissioner for political affairs of AU’s commission.
 “The meeting aimed at examining the latest developments of intergovernmental negotiations and the status of implementing the recommendations of C10 Summit, held in Oyo in May 2014,” said the communiqué.
