Renewed fighting in Ain al-Arab claims 31 lives

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) launched a fresh attack on the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Ain Al-Arab (Kobane) city, Aleppo governorate, north Syria, on Friday.
The fighting, still going on, resulted in 31 deaths, including 23 ISIL fighters and eight YPG gunmen, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) managed to enter the besieged Al-Waar district in the central city of Homs to inspect the humanitarian situation.
The Syrian government and the opposition groups have yet to reach a truce deal to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the city, according to a report by Shaam News Network (SNN).
Separately, thousands of Syrians took to streets in several cities in protest against the publishing of defamatory cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be upon Him) by the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo
The demonstrators demanded respect for all faiths and sanctities, and cautioned against offending the beliefs of others under any justification.
