Residents of the Gaza Strip have celebrated the durable ceasefire deal between Israel and Palestine.
After the announcement of the truce late Tuesday, thousands of Palestinians took to the streets and fired volleys of bullets in the air to celebrate the agreement, sponsored by Egypt.
The seven-week Gaza war left 2,137 Palestinians dead, some 11,000 injured and displaced more than half a million Palestinians.
In a statement, Hamas announced victory over Israel, saying the resistance compelled Israel to accept the ceasefire terms.
Hamas hailed the supportive stance of the Arab and Islamic countries who backed the Palestinian cause.
According to the Egypt-brokered ceasefire, Israel agreed to permit humanitarian aid into Gaza and expand the Gaza fishing zone to six miles.
