Ruling party representative elected as Sudanese parliament speaker

Representative of Sudan's ruling National Congress Party Ibrahim Ahmed Omar was overwhelmingly elected as the Sudanese parliament speaker.
Omar Soliman, the ruling party's representative, was also elected as head of the Council of States.
The election came during a procedural session of the parliament.
