Saudi distributes dates over Syrian refugees in Lebanon

The Saudi embassy in Beirut announced today that a consignment weighing 150 tons of dates has arrived in the port of Beirut prior to being distributed over Syrian refugees in Lebanon ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan.
In a press release to mark the occasion, the embassy said the charitable action is being done in implementation of directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to provide the Syrian displaced people, particularly children, women and the elderly with their needs all through their stay outside their country.
He cited that today's charity was given on the eve of the fasting month of Ramadan together with six tons of dates recently donated by the sons of late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to needy Palestinians through UNRWA and the Saudi National Campaign's vow to pay the rent cost of 1,000 houses to accommodate Syrian displaced families in Lebanon and distribute 100,000 breakfast meals during Ramadan.
