Saudi King addresses Arab Summit

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud addressed the 26th Arab Summit in Egypt's Sharm el Sheikh town on Saturday.
The King said the surge of terrorism and sectarianism, which are ignited by regional powers, led to the painful reality in a number of Arab countries.
In Yemen, he said, the foreign meddling helped the Houthi militants to lead a coup against the legitimate authority and occupy the capital Sanaa, as well as hindering the Gulf Initiative which aimed at keeping Yemen's security, unity and stability.
He added that the Houthi militants, backed by regional powers aim to dominate Yemen and make it a base to extend their influence in the region, rejected the reconciliation efforts, continued their aggression against the Yemeni people and posed a direct threat to the regional security and stability, and to international peace and security.
All these prompted the launch of the Operation Decisive Storm which came in response to the Yemeni President to stand by his country and deter the Houthi aggression.
The King said Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, calls on all Yemeni factions, which are keen on keeping their country's security and stability, to meet under the Gulf Cooperation Council umbrella within the context of adhering to legitimacy and rejecting the coup.
He also called on Yemeni factions to listen to the voice of reason, stop leaning on external forces and stop promoting sectarianism.
The Operation Decisive Storm will continue to achieve its goals until the Yemeni people enjoy security and stability, the Saudi King said in a speech before the Arab summit on Saturday.
He added that the Palestinian cause will remain a top priority to his country, noting that achieving comprehensive regional peace and security is based on resolving the Palestinian cause by establishing an independent state with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
It is time for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by issuing a United Nations Security Council resolution adopting the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, and name a senior international envoy to find a way out of the current impasse, the king said.
The king called for more collective efforts to face the surge of terrorism which poses a threat to the whole region.
He criticized the Syrian regime for attacking civilians with explosive barrels and toxic gases, adding that the Syrian regime rejects any peaceful solutions.
The Saudi monarch stressed that those who killed Syrian people have no place in determining Syria's future.
He expressed his country's deep concern over the situation in Libya, voicing hope that peace and stability would be brought back to the Arab country.
As regards the nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, the Kingdom's stance is clear and firm, which is a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction, he added.
The king concluded his speech by calling for qualitative opportunities in the approach of the joint Arab action, and restructuring and upgrading the Arab League in a way that enables it to follow the ever growing developments and changes.
