Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s visit to Egypt, which concluded Monday, will mark a new Arab reality capable of facing terror threats and fulfilling economic and development ambitions, a former Egyptian official said.
Security and military cooperation between Cairo and Riyadh and joint military drills for setting up a strong Islamic alliance against terrorism will lead to the establishment of a joint Arab force that would restore the Arab nation’s ability to deter and counter terror and organized crime activities, former assistant foreign minister Mohamed Hegazy said.
More than 27 agreements and memos of understanding were signed during the five-day visit, including one for the construction of a bridge between the two countries, the establishment of a joint investment fund and a project for the development of Sinai and industrial zones in the Suez Canal and Fayoum, he said.
