The Saudi-Sudanese Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee held on Tuesday its first meeting in Jeddah under the chairmanship of Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir and Sudanese Foreign Minister Professor Ibrahim Ahmed Ghandour.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) after the meeting, Al-Jubeir explained that they discussed the distinguished relations between the two countries and ways of strengthening and intensifying them in all fields.
Al-Jubeir stated that they discussed how to strengthen and intensify bilateral trade and investment between the two countries as well as the challenges faced by the region, whether in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, the situation in Libya, the Iranian intervention in the affairs of the region and how to deal with these challenges.
On the other hand, the Saudi Minister said that the United Nations had deleted coalition countries to support the legality in Yemen from the list of the United Nations Secretary General on Children and military conflicts, due to inaccurate information in this report. He also reiterated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is very keen that any UN report to be issued must be based on facts and accurate statistics.
He explained that after reviewing the situation and the Kingdom's protest, the coalition of countries to support the legitimacy in Yemen was deleted from this list. He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries are keen on security and stability in Yemen, and on protection of civilians including children, stressing that there is accuracy in military operations and there is a constant review to avoid any injury to civilians.
He pointed out that the kingdom and the coalition countries are the biggest financers of human and relief aid to the Yemeni people, saying that they support the peace process in Yemen in order to reach a solution based on the Gulf initiative, outputs of national dialogue conference and Security Council resolution 2216.
