Security forces are still on alert to secure electoral commissions' headquarters of the parliamentary runoffs on Tuesday and Wednesday in 13 governorates, a senior official said.
In statements to MENA Tuesday, Assistant Interior Minister for media sector Abu Baker Abdel Kerim said security was intensified in North Sinai.
Security forces are patrolling streets in North Sinai around clock in North Sinai, he noted.
The runoff covers the governorates of Cairo, Qalyoubiya, Daqahliya, Menufiya, Gharbiya, Kafr el Sheikh, Sharqiya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai.
The turnout for the second phase of the parliamentary elections was higher than the first phase because the majority of expats are from the Delta region, where the second phase of the polls took place.
