Qena police have stepped up security measures ahead of the planned protests by the Salfist Front on Friday.
The police erected barricades and deployed armored vehicles around vital government buildings including the provincial prison, the City Hall and police stations, Qena Security Director Hassan el-Sohagi said on Wednesday.
The roads in front of all vital buildings have been barricaded off, he added.
The police squads are securing buildings and temporarily restricting traffic, he said.
A lesser known group, the Salafist Front, has called for anti-State protests on November 28.
