Transport Minister Hany Dahy made a surprise visit Tuesday to Ramses Railway Station in Downtown Cairo.
Dahy inspected the platforms of Upper Egypt-bound and Delta-bound trains, as well as ticket offices.
He wanted to make sure the booking process is going on smoothly.
The minister urged workers at ticket offices to be friendly to passengers.
He boarded a train that was heading from Cairo to Sohag and another from Cairo to Alexandria to make sure the wagons are clean.
The minister also listened to opinions and suggestions of passengers about the railway service.
He assured them that his Ministry is acting to ensure comfortable and safe trips for all passengers.
The minister also held a meeting on the sidelines of his tour with leaders of the Railway Authority and stressed the importance of sticking to the schedule of train trips.
