Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry delivered Egypt's address at an international conference held in the Italian capital Rome on Sunday with the participation of regional and international partners concerned with the Libyan crisis under the auspices of the United Nations.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in statements Sunday the foreign minister warned in his speech of the gravity of the spread of terrorism in Libya and it dangerous consequences on the region.
Shoukry called for accelerating efforts by the international community to help the Libyan people and their representatives at the negotiations in the Moroccan city of Skhirat to achieve reconciliation and form a national unity government.
He pointed out that Egypt backs efforts of the Libyan factions to sign a political agreement on December 16 to end the suffering of the Libyans.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that the Rome meeting was called for by Italy, with the participation of many international and regional parties concerned with the Libyan issue, United Nations envoy to Libya Martin Kobler, and representatives of the Libyan parties.
The statement also said: "the meeting aimed to support and encourage the Libyans to reach needed consensus on the political agreement and the formation of a national reconciliation government, in addition to discuss the actions that need to be taken by the international community to support the Libyan government after its formation, and ways to confront terrorism in Libya."
