
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov briefed his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry during a phone call on the outcome of a Quartet ministerial meeting, which was held in Vienna on Friday, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of the US, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Turkey.
Lavrov said that he affirmed during the meeting the importance of expanding the participation of a number of countries, including Egypt, in the meetings related to Syria, according to the spokesman.
Shoukry was also briefed on the proposals which were tackled during the meeting.
The two sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination regarding the Syrian crisis within the upcoming days.
