Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Saturday with Quartet representative to the Middle East Tony Blair.
The meeting took up humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and means of implementing the pledges of the donating parties which took part in the conference held in Cairo concerning reconstructing the enclave.
Shoukry discussed with Blair efforts exerted to resume the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aatti.
The Egyptian top diplomat underlined the importance of halting all the practices and measures that hinder the peace process, especially building settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The discussions should lead to establishing a Palestinian independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, Shoukry reiterated.
