The Shura Council of Jihadis in Derna has announced that the so-called "Libyan Islamic Army" is no longer one of its administratively affiliated factions.
The Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries, meanwhile, announced that it does not belong to Daesh.
The beheading of 21 Egyptian Copts only adds fuel to the fire, the Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries said Monday on its facebook page.
"We as a council are innocent of such acts that are falsely blamed on us," it said, stressing "we have nothing to do with them."
The Daesh group released a video Sunday, showing the killing of 21 Egyptian abductees in Libya.
