President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during which they reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the deteriorating situation on the ground, presidential spokesman ambassador Ihab Badawy said.
The spokesman said that Egypt is making extensive contacts with all actors to spare the Palestinian people the dangers of the Israeli military operations and to hold Israel fully responsible for securing the lives of the civilians according to Geneva conventions.
He added that Egypt seeks to create conditions favorable for resuming the peace negotiations to reach a peaceful and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian problem which is based on the two-state solution in a way that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
