
Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday affirmed Egypt's keenness to improve the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and boost its role in confronting challenges faced by the Islamic world, presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said.
The president met with OIC's Secretary General Iyad Madani, who is paying a two-day visit to Egypt.
Sisi also stressed Egypt's full support for efforts and activities of the Secretariat General to carry out its responsibilities in issues of the Islamic nation and defend its interests.
Madani hailed efforts made by Egypt as the the chairman of the 12th meeting of the Islamic summit conference.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region and Islamic world, as well as discuss means to counter terrorism and extremism, which distorts the image of Islam.
Both sides also discussed boosting coordination between Egypt and the OIC on confronting terrorism in the upcoming period.
