President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed Wednesday rendering Port Said the first Egyptian governorate free of unplanned areas by mid-2017.
Sisi’s remarks came during his visit to the province to take part in its 60th national day and inaugurate some projects, topped by Al Nasr Floating Bridge linking Port Said and Port Fouad cities.
The president also handed over the contracts of 10 out of 58 factories in the industrial zone in southern Port Said.
In his speech, Sisi highlighted the ongoing efforts to develop Port Said, citing the industrial zone in the city's eastern district over an area of 40 million square meters, along with fish farms and the under-construction tunnels linking the two banks of Suez Canal.
He also stressed the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in providing new job openings for the youth.
