President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Friday said the Egyptian people can achieve progress in various fields and compensate the circumstances and backlogs of the past 60 years.
The Egyptian state began to re-establish itself on modern bases thanks to its citizens, especially the young men, Sisi added during a meeting with youth and journalists on the sidelines of his inspection tour to El Galala project, located between Ain Sukhna and Zaafarana.
Those who criticized the deficiencies in the government's performance forget that Egypt in the past were not at its best, otherwise it would not have witnessed two revolutions, the president said.
We still need to further improve awareness, education and health, and all those fields that can not be improved in a blink of an eye, he added.
With regard to confronting corruption and crime, we do not want to take exceptional measures in order to accelerate the punishment of the perpetrators, but we seek to implement a gradual reform, Sisi said.
We have been trying to develop education as a human right of the Egyptian citizen to have a good education, he added.
The number of students in Egypt is 22 million, and every one of them needs about 10,000 to 15,000 pounds to receive a good education, he said. The school buildings also suffer a big shortage and overcrowding classrooms, while the budget allocated to education is not sufficient and needs to be upped to EGP 300 billion, the president added.
He added that the decline in health services is due to the meager funds allocated to this vital sector that needs EGP eight trillion to be able to provide services to as many as 90 million citizens.
