President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Atti.
During the meeting, Abdel Atti reviewed the measures taken by the state to deal with the floods which hit some areas especially the Red Sea, Upper Egypt and New Valley governorates, according to the presidency's spokesman Alaa Yousef.
The minister said that the coming days will witness the fall of huge amounts of rains which will reach 120 million cubic meters during six hours in the Red Sea and 45 million cubic meters in the New Valley during the coming two days.
Abdel Atti stressed that the projects implemented by the state over the past two years to protect people from the floods such as bridges and artificial lakes contributed to curbing the losses caused by the floods.
He further underlined that the losses created by the floods were mainly in Ras Gharib due to the nature of the land there.
The minister reviewed the state's plan to protect people from floods which kicked off in 2014 with cost of 4.2 billion pounds as 160 ventures were carried out in north and south Sinai, Red Sea, the western North Coast, Marsa Matrouh, Upper Egypt and Delta regions.
Sisi gave directives to swiftly finalize the state's plan to curb the losses caused by floods and give it the priority in the cabinet's program.
He order the state's apparatuses and the Armed Forces to exert their utmost efforts to help people in the flood-hit governorates.
