President Abdel Fattah al Sisi’s week saw a flurry of activities as he held meetings at the internal and foreign levels.

Last week, Sisi held a meeting with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdelaziz al Saud to review the latest developments of the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm against Houthis in Yemen.

The Saudi minister hailed Cairo's supportive stance on the military operation, highlighting the key role by the Egyptian navy from the Red Sea to the Strait of Bab el Mandeb.

At the end of talks, Egypt and Saudi Arabia agreed to form a joint military panel to mull holding a strategic drill with the participation of Gulf states.

Last week, Sisi received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for discussing the latest developments at the Palestinian arena and the Middle East.

Abbas also briefed Sisi on the outcome of his international contacts and efforts in order to reach a solution for the Palestinian cause.

Sisi, meanwhile, affirmed that the Palestinian cause will always be part of Egypt's priorities.

He said that Egypt will continue to support the Palestinian cause until a comprehensive solution is reached and a free and independent state according to the 1967 borders is established.

The president signed the "Nile document" on launching a national campaign to protect River Nile and raise awareness among citizens against pollution and encroachments in line with the country's constitution.

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Moghazi presented the president with the measures the ministry started to remove encroachments on the river and its branches.

The minister reviewed with the president the recently signed declaration of principles by Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia and the efforts to choose two consultancy firms to study the construction of the Ethiopian renaissance dam and its possible effect on Egypt.

President Sisi stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with all African countries especially the Nile basin states within the framework of Egypt's new policy to open a new chapter with Africa.

Also last week, Sisi met Joe Kaeser, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG.

Kaeser hailed distinguished ties binding Egypt and Germany, as part of the company's commitment to support the Egyptian economy and contribute to meeting Egypt's energy needs.

Kaeser said that the company is keen on contributing to reviving the economy and achieving comprehensive development in Egypt.

The meeting further tackled Siemens' offer to carry out three power stations in Egypt, with a total capacity reaching 13.2 gigawatts.

Sisi underlined the importance of abiding by safety standards in implementing these projects.

He also said set a two-year deadline to finalize the implementation of the three power stations.

As Coptic Christians mark Easter, Sisi sent a cable of greetings to Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese.

The president also greeted Egyptian Copts living abroad on the occasion.

He dispatched senior officials from the presidency to the Coptic cathedral in Cairo’s Abbassiya district to attend Easter Mass and other churches to attend the celebrations.

Also last week, Sisi discussed with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab the main features of the elections constituency division bill, which is currently being discussed by the Cabinet.

Sisi also reviewed the latest political and economic developments in the country.

Mahlab also briefed Sisi on the progress made so far in the national projects, which are currently being implemented.

The meeting also tackled ways of providing citizens' needs of energy and food commodities.
