President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held Friday talks with a number of Arab leaders who arrived in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh to take part in the 26th meeting of the Arab summit on Saturday and Sunday.
President Sisi met with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah who stressed that this year's summit is full of hopes anticipated by the Arab peoples so that their aspirations for unity and solidarity will be achieved, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
During the meeting, President Sisi expressed his confidence that the Arab leaders will exert strenuous efforts so that the summit will come up with the aspired results to achieve the interests of the Arab nation.
The president lauded Kuwait's presidency of the 25th meeting of the Arab summit, extending thanks to the Kuwaiti emir over the strenuous efforts exerted during Kuwait's presidency.
The Egyptian leader also met with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir who praised as a "historic event" the signing of a document of the Declaration of Principles on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in Khartoum.
Sisi asserted that the deal gave a glimmer of hope to the three countries that cooperation and agreement could be alternative to disputes.
He added that it is necessary to seal detailed deals to apply the declaration of principles so that the three countries can achieve benefits.
Sisi also met with Iraqi President Fuad Masum who reviewed the latest developments in his country, noting the progress achieved by the Iraqi national army in face of Daesh terrorist group especially in Tikrit.
Masum asserted that the Iraqi people strongly support the national army against the extremist terrorist groups.
For his part, Sisi wished that Iraq could restore stability and security.
The Egyptian president also met with his Tunisian counterpart Beji Caid Essebsi.
Sisi reiterated his condemnation of the "terrorist" attack that targeted Bardo Museum near the parliament building in the capital Tunis, stressing the necessity of closing ranks to wipe out terrorism.
Essebsi asserted the deeply rooted relations binding the two countries and the the necessity to boost them.
The presidential spokesman added that Sisi also met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Sisi stressed that the Palestinian cause is pivotal for all Arabs until an independent Palestinian state is established.
Sisi also met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud who reviewed the latest developments in his country, stressing that Somali authorities are controlling all Somali lands.
Sisi asserted that Egypt is ready to support the Somali government in efforts aiming at achieving security and stability.
Sisi also met with Mauritanian Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and Djibouti President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh on ways of boosting the bilateral relations in various fields.
