
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi left here on Thursday on a three-day visit to Ethiopia, where he will participate in the 24th African Union Summit.
The summit will be held on Friday and Saturday.
During his visit, Sisi will hold talks with African leaders on ways of bolstering bilateral relations and coordinating efforts to serve key issues on the summit agenda.
It is the second time for Sisi to head an Egyptian delegation to an African summit following June's African Summit, which was held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The summit will witness the handover of the presidency of the African Commission on Climate Change from the Tanzanian
president to the Egyptian president Sisi to lead the African position on the issue of the climate change.
The two day-summit will see the participation of more than 40 heads of state as Egypt's participation in the summit is expected to revive Cairo's role in the African continent.
Women’s empowerment and development toward Africa’s Agenda 2063 will be top on the agenda of the upcoming African Union summit.
For two days, the heads of African states will consider the progress report of the Commission on the Ebola crisis as well as the report of the Conference of Ministers of Finance and Economy on the Alternative Sources of Financing the AU.
The African leaders will also review the report of the Peace and Security Council and the status of peace and security in Africa.
