
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined the importance of working hard to stop violations against religious sanctities in East Jerusalem.
During a meeting Saturday with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Sisi underlined the importance of exerting more efforts to ease conditions in the Palestinian territories and offer all needed help for the Palestinians in light of the ongoing developments in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the presidential spokesman said.
Alaa Youssef noted that Shoukry posted Sisi on the outcome of his recent visit to New York during which the top diplomat attended the United Nations General Assembly meeting in which Egypt won voting on a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
The spokesman added that Shoukry reviewed the Egyptian working plan in the coming period and coordination with the UNSC members as well as regional and international powers.
During the meeting, Sisi underlined that Egypt is keen on easing regional conditions and realizing peace and security in the Arab region, the spokesman said.
Shoukry said Arab and African issues will top Egypt's agenda at the UNSC, especially in view of the challenges besetting the Arab region.
Sisi gave directives that Egypt would step up efforts to realize peace and stability in Africa.
During the meeting, Shoukry posted Sisi on the outcome of his contacts with the foreign ministers of the US and Russia on several issues of mutual concern.
Shoukry said the developments in Libya topped the talks with international officials, especially after the UN-brokered deal on forming a Libyan unity government.
During talks with international officials, Shoukry underlined the importance of backing Libya to form its government and cooperating with it to be able to play its role in combating terror.
Meanwhile, Shoukry reviewed with the president the Egyptian embassies' preparations on the first day of parliamentary elections.
The president urged offering all needed facilities for Egyptian expatriates to cast their ballots in order to promote their participation in the political life of their homeland.
