President Abdel Fattah el Sisi asserted on Sunday that Egypt will take revenge for martyrs who were killed in recent terrorist attacks in Sinai.
Egypt will not accept anything less than revenge for its martyrs, he said.
"All should know that there is an army ready to die to keep Egypt alive," the president told a gathering at the Galaa Theater in Cairo in the presence of the ministers of interior and defense along with top brass of the Armed Forces. Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el Tayeb and and Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II were present as well.
"No one, regardless of his or his organization's strength is, can undermine Egypt," he said.
He told the army "It is you who will take revenge for Egypt martyrs and will protect it and die for its sake."
He asserted that taking revenge doesn't mean killing innocent people.
"This has been our commitment from day one, although there are other countries that I will not name, that have fought terror by sweeping whole villages. We have not done that and will not do so," he said.
"We are against criminals and those who fight us," he added.
