
Suez Army and police personnel continued to secure the southern entrance of the Suez Canal, the Suez Gulf Coast and entrance and exits of the Sinai Peninsula to clamp down on terrorist elements, Suez Security chief Tareq El Gazzar announced on Sunday.
In a statement, El Gazzar said that army and police forces combed east of the Suez Canal, the surrounding desert areas and farms and arrested many terrorists.
Many checkpoints were deployed on Suez-Sinai Road and explosives detection devices were planted inside Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel and the Suez Canal ferry, security source said.
