
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU)'s Acting Chairman Ibrahim Al-Kawwari said that as part of investigation into the whereabouts of the death of the Reformatory and Rehabilitation Centre's inmate, the Unit interrogated another official at the Centre and charged him with torture and infliction of severe pain and suffering that caused the victim's death.
He said that under the provision of clause 208 of the Penal Code this crime is punishable with life imprisonment if it led to the victim's death, adding that the SIU continues its uninterrupted investigation and maximum efforts to probe and collect various types of evidences in order to determine criminal liability as soon as possible.
Al-Kawwari said that the Unit has almost finished investigations and will shortly announce the results and in details its action regarding the case.
