Jordan embraced reform since His Majesty King Abdullah's assumption of power but its pace had been accelerated by the Arab Spring, Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour said Tuesday. He added during a meeting with Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Al Hassan Abdul Khaliq that the King was prompt to meet his people's aspirations, expediting comprehensive with unprecedented constitutional amendments and updating legislation that helped to enhance democracy, freedom, justice and human rights. He talked about a host of laws that will be debated by the parliament in the coming period, mainly the elections, political parties, landlords and tenants, social security and other legislation. The speaker also noted that Jordan and Morocco had maintained deep ties, stressing their leaders' keenness to enhance them in various domains. The envoy, who congratulated the House Speaker for his election, noted the depth of ties between Morocco and Jordan. He said that his country is following up with interest on Jordan's new approach of forming governments.
